In the Middle Ages beeswax was introduced giving people the first candle that burned without smoke or unpleasant odors.  The only problem was that the beeswax candles were very expensive so only the wealthy could afford them.  This made receiving a candle as a very cherished gift.  Today candles are still given as treasured gifts for all occasions.  However, the selection has improved greatly.  There are candles of every holiday, event, color, shape, size, and scent available to choose from.  Candles are the perfect gifts for housewarmings, birthdays, weddings and party favors.
